Getting to know your club

Founded in 2011 by three pastors and local police, Brimbank Rugby Union Club (BRUC) was established as a safe space for at-risk youth, fostering community connections and a strong family environment. Today, we proudly support junior, female, and senior rugby teams, providing a structured and inclusive environment for players of all backgrounds.

Our club operates entirely through volunteer effort, with a dedicated 13-member committee and additional volunteers who make our mission possible. We maintain strong community ties with organizations such as Deer Park and Sunshine Lions Club, Iron Armour Acadamy, 1000 Generations, and Blank Canvas, ensuring our impact extends beyond the rugby field.

BRUC currently competes in nine junior age grades and two senior grades, with players ranging from ages 4 to 18. We are committed to increasing youth participation, particularly among 14- to 18-year-olds, where drop-off rates are highest. In 2024, we registered over 140 junior players and more than 50 senior players, including 30 girls competing across our teams—the highest female representation in a mixed-grade team in Victoria.

In 2026, BRUC aim to compete in Victoria’s premier rugby competition, the DEWAR Shield, marking a significant milestone in our club’s journey. This achievement reflects our unwavering passion, dedication, and commitment to growing both the sport and our community.

Services we provide

Men's Seniors

Our senior men's team has consistently performed at a high level, reaching the semifinals every season since joining the competition. In 2024, our 2nd XV finished as minor premiers, showcasing our depth and determination. With eyes set on the championship, our boys are gearing up for a strong finish this season as we prepare to step up to the Dewar Shield in the future.

Women's Seniors

Our women's team is making a strong impact in the Lindroth Cup, competing fiercely and growing with each season. Partnering with the Melton Warriors, our ladies are building a solid foundation, developing skills, and strengthening team chemistry. With a dedicated squad and growing momentum, they are determined to make 2025 a standout season, pushing for greater success and inspiring the next generation of female rugby players.

Junior Grades

The 2025 season is shaping up to be another milestone year for the Brimbank Bucks, with strategic plans well underway to build on the club’s on-field and off-field successes from 2024. As the reigning Emerging Junior Club of the Year, our focus remains on player development, ensuring our juniors teams continue to grow in skill, confidence, and competition. With an expanding player base, strengthened coaching programs, and deeper community engagement, we are committed to making 2025 a year of even greater achievements for the Bucks family.
